RICE BALLS!!!

Kumiko Osaki

At our school we have a special visitor from Japan! Her name is Kimiko Osaki, she is a music teacher in Tokyo. Today she taught us all about rice, that’s right you know what I said, rice. Did you know there are 3 types of rice? Because I didn’t.Not only did she teach us about rice and rice balls but we  got to make rice balls! How cool is that? Mine was heart-shaped. We could put salmon in the middle or seaweed around it. We could even use rice with veggies in it! It was so much fun.

My D.A.R.E. Essay

In D.A.R.E. I have learned many things, like that the first time you will get offered a drug or cigarette, it will probably be by a friend. And that some drugs like Crystal Meth, are really addicting, like cigarettes. Thanks to Constable Barnhill for teaching me to be smart and just say no.

Saying no can be hard or easy. Sometimes you say no and people give you a hard time and call you a chicken or something so you give into peer pressure and say yes. I have learned to be strong and just say no but I could not have done it without Constable Barnhill. He has also taught me that anyone can say no if they just ignore them and walk away because it could end up with violence.

I hope you will take his advice and be as smart as me, because it’s never too late to start. Without D.A.R.E. who knows where I would be in life in the next ten years. I promise to remember what I have learned in D.A.R.E. and just say NO!

Student blogs banned?

In english Mlle Levesque showed us a website that will help us with our research. As we searched the site we found a story that we found quite interesting, the tittle was what really got our attention: ‘Student blogs BANNED!‘ A wave of silence and shock  filled the class. At first I thought it was a joke, but no. Some schools actually banned student blogs! So what this post is about is our opinions on student blogs banned. My opinion is that I think banning student blogs should be banned! Students should have the chance to express their feelings in a creative way. What I don’t think is good about having them is sometimes people put a little too much information on their blogs. But we are very carefull, about our sharing information. It’s lucky our school does not ban blogs. My response is just don’t ban them, were smart enough not to put our home address, phone number, or even our last name.

Free time

Field trips can be awesome, and sometimes they can get a little crazy. Like today for example, we went swimming. It started off normal, the class clown did the back crawl when he should have done the front crawl, we actually did the right thing, we swam, ect. But when free time came it got a little hectic. Splash splash, drip drip, BOING! Water was flying everywhere! (I dunked a little on some people’s head’s.) People were going NUTS! Just then, Jonathan just had to bring the little red toy boat into the hot tub. He played with it like a three-year old, so I took it from him. And that’s how it got started. We all started steeling it from each other, and thus the great boat wars begun. “Gimmy that!” “No way!” “Thomas catch!” It was nuts! But also really fun. We had a blast! Then the whistle blew “WHOOP!” and we all charged to the changing rooms. I wonder what will happen next week.

Take a breather!

Dans la classe on travail sur  la système respiratoire. Pour apprendre à propos de la capacité de nos poumons, nous avons fait une expérience avec des ballons! Voici les étapes  que nous avions suit:

-Nous avions lu une livre (“Take a breather”) qui contenait de l’info sur la respiration: “tidal breathing”, vital réserve volume, etc. Et des expériences pour essayer.

-Recu les matériaux donc qu’on avait besoin: ballons, ficelle et une feuille pour écrire nos résultats.

-Mesurer nos tailles. Tout la classe avait des tailles entre 130 et 170 centimetres.

-Trouver la moyenne d’exercise qu’on reçoit chaque semaine. La personne avec la plus d’exercise reçoit une moyenne de 150 minutes d’exercise par jour. La personne qui recoit la moins, recoit une moyenne de 30 minutes par jour.

– On a pris une ballon, respirer normalement et pousser l’air qui restait  dans nos poumons dans la ballon. Apres on a mesure la ballons avec la ficelle. Ce que la ballons mesure est notre “expiratory reserve volume”.

– Prochain, nous avons mesure le “capacite vitale”. On prends une grande respiration et on mets tout l’air qu’on peut dans la ballon. Ce que la ballon mesure est la “capacite vitale”.

– Apres faire les deux tests trois fois, on trouve la moyenne; on additionne les 3 resultats ensemble et divise par 3.

– En arrière du livre, (Take a Breather) il y avait une table qui nous disait quel personnes devrait avoir des “capacite vital” plus grand (les personnes plus grand, les mâles, les personnes qui ne fumes pas, les personnes qui vive a un altitude plus haut et les personnes actifs). J’ai compare les résultats au tableau et voici ce que j’ai trouve:

-La personne avec la plus grande capacité avait seulement 2 traits de cette liste.

– La personne avec la capacité la plus petit avait 3 traits de cette liste.

– les personnes avec les plus de des traits de la (3 traits) était quelque- uns des plus petit capacités.

– La personne avec la plus grand capacité avait moins de traits que la personne avec la plus petit capacité.

-La plupart des mâles avaient des petites capacités, les personnes avec les 3 plus grand capacité étaient des filles.

Et voici des choses intéressante que j’ai trouve avec mon partenaire:       

– C’est possible d’expirer plus d’air que tu inspires, c’est parce qu’il y a toujours de l’air qui reste dans tes poumons que tu ne peux pas expirer.               -La plupart des personnes avec des grandes capacités avait une taille entre 150 cm et 170 cm.

My Small Adventure

Just yesterday I was in the wildest goose chase I’ve ever been in and it went a little like this…
Me and my BFF Ashley (LeBreton) were invited to a Halloween party at a girl named Katie’s house and it was awesome until ‘they’ showed up.(I’m sorry I will not say there real names we will just call them um… JIMMY yeah we will call them Jimmy and Fred!)
After that it was all down hill. At the party all Jimmy and Fred did was insulted us and ate OUR candy! When they were out of candy they got up and left. A few minutes later they came back with CAMERAS! “RUN!” yelled Ashley. “Hurry” I shrieked. After five hours of running and hiding we finally got back to Ashley’s house (which was across the street from the party) and hid there until my dad came to pick me up .
And I’ve got to say that was a weird thing to do for one good photo of Ashley, (Jimmy liked her) but it was pretty fun ( but not the part Jimmy shot Ashley with a beebee gun in the leg) in fact I had a little fun. And that’s was definitely the most fun small adventure I have ever had.

Emily J. est comme Rufus!

Rufus est un personnage moins importent du livre et du film Petit Nicolas. Il est un garçon très drôle puis quand il est grand il veux être un policier. On es similaire parce que nous deux sont différant des autres de nos classe. Il est le seule dans son classe qui veux être policier, moi je suis le seule dans ma classe qui veux être réalisatrice (presque personne savez que que sa c’est!) puis je suis le seule dans ma classe qui joue le trompette. Il y a probablement d’autres façon qu’on est similaire que je ne le savez pas!

Le pont de Londre

Jeudi passe ont avez construis les ponts! Nos pont s appelle le pont de Londres, c’est  le  poutre Howe. Il  peut supporter 700 grames , ont a fait un compétions pour voir quelle un peut tenir plus ont avez était dans 2 place. Il y avez trois autres sorts de ponts: le poutre Pratt, le poutre Warren, le poutre Croix de St. André et nos poutre Howe. Ont a seulement utiliser les bandes de papier mesurer , les attache parisienne  et 2 cm de ruban.Il peut  traverser un fosse de 35 cm.Ont a fait le poutre Howe par-ce que ca regarder  le plus fort, est  il était!!!
